Nik Molson Photography
I was born in 1991 in the hippie mountain town of Nelson, British Columbia. There I spent time in nature, working in the town mill, and discovering my need to create images. The local backdrop of thick forest was a perfect place to be introduced to photography. By 18 I had completed the first half of a widely encompassing digital media program and was Toronto bound to pursue a more focused path in the Digital Arts.
By 2013 I had graduated both Humber College’s and the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts 3D and Visual Effects for Film programs - all while continuing to hone my craft as a passionate photographer on the side. Shortly thereafter, I started working on major feature films like the Transformer series, Avengers, and my girlfriend’s personal favourite - Guardian’s of the Galaxy.
Working in VFX, I learned to train both a critical eye, work collaboratively, and work under pressure and deadlines. However, the reality of full-time blockbuster Hollywood did not satiate my need for travel, adventure, and authentic storytelling. This lead me reevaluate my career and commit to my voice of visual storytelling through photography.
I have and always will love creating compelling images that strive to find the subject’s truth. My goal as a photographer is to capture honest moments that in turn evoke new truth and emotion in the viewer. I strive to craft content that is both worth viewing and remembering. While I’m still at the start of my journey, I’m eager for every opportunity to explore new people and places. Currently, I’m stationed in Vancouver, British Columbia.
